Practicing the SUN BREATH~~
A. Stand with both feet touching. Bring your hands together, palm to palm, at the heart.
Make sure your weight is evenly distributed. Feel your feet sinking toward the earth and
the top of your head rising toward the heavens. Exhale.
B. Inale bringing your arms upward to the sides. Slowly bend backward, stretching arms
above the head like you are surrounding the sun with your arms. Relax your neck.
C. Exhale while you slowly bend forward until your hands are in line with your feet touching your head
toward your knees (if you need to bend your knees, this is fine--you will become more flexible with practice).
Press your palms down, fingertips in line with toes and touch the floor. Slowly inhale and bring your hands
gently up the front of your legs toward your knees palms toward legs, head looking forward, spine in alignment
with your tailbone one direction and the head pulling away from hips. Slowly exhale as you slide your hands
back down to the floor.
D. Inhale as you bring your arms up along the sides of your body, palms facing up as you
straighten your back up~~ one vertebrae at a time ~~until you are doing same as B. above.
Press your hands down and around with your exhalation as you bring your palms together in front of your
heart in namaste'. "The Spirit in Me~~Honors the Spirit in You" Namaste'
Lynda is pictured here surrounding the sun in the Sun Breath and asking you to know your own body
limits and to stretch and breathe to where you feel comfortable with each pose.
